"Buoys Adrift" Exhibit

A community art initiative hosted by the Homer Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies in partnership with the National Science Foundation’s NCAR Traveling Climate Exhibit: Resilient Earth – Resilient Communities. Artists were invited to transform buoys collected from Alaskan beaches into meaningful works of art that reflect our evolving relationship with the sea, climate resilience, and the human impact on marine environments.

Yelloweye Rockfish: Longline Bycatch

An issue close to my heart is the bycatch of Yelloweye Rockfish in longline fishing. My university graduating capstone covers a solution to the waste incurred by this problem, and I encourage you to check out the project in its entirety here.

SHOWCASE

The exhibit will be a combination of informational panels and interactive elements displayed in the Carl E. Wynn Visitor Center. The exhibit will be on display through August 2025 to encourage public interaction, environmental awareness, and creative action.

AWARDS

Concluding the exhibition, my buoy was awarded 'Peoples Choice' and was sent down to an exhibition in Boulder Colorado where it will remain for a year displayed at the NSF NCAR’s iconic Mesa Lab in Boulder, Colorado.
